California walnuts are an ideal ingredient for a balanced diet and can all year round be integrated into a wide variety of dishes. A new marketing campaign in August shows how this can be successful, especially in summer. The California Summer Campaign includes a POS promotion with top food retailer EDEKA and a walnut-themed month at foodlab Hamburg, an innovation center and co-working space. Recipe ideas such as walnut strawberry ricotta cream and shepherd's cheese with walnut crust make California walnuts stand out as perfect summer ingredient. Aim is to constantly increase consumer interest and sales figures.
From mid-August, a five-week, German-wide POS promotion will take place in EDEKA supermarkets. During the California Summer Campaign, pure walnuts, walnut bread with a walnut dip and yoghurt with maple syrup and walnuts will be sampled. New recipe cards, product information as well as California-style decorations and tasting booths will attract attention. Around 80,000 customer contacts are expected during the campaign period.
At the same time, everything at foodlab Hamburg revolves around California walnuts. Innovative start-ups meet a community of food journalists, influencers, foodies, consumers and chefs in this co-working space. Various walnut specialties are served on the lunch menu (e.g. Köttbullar), the café menu (e.g. walnut muesli, walnut yogurt, walnut cake) and at the monthly aperitivo event (e.g. spicy walnut snack). In keeping with the California Summer Campaign, decorative material ensures even more attention. The promotion is expected to generate around 10,000 contacts on social media alone.
